Students Put Safety First at Teddy Bear Clinic

Bridgehampton School’s youngest students took part in an engaging, hands-on lesson about injury prevention and personal safety during a special “Teddy Bear Clinic” presented by Stony Brook Southampton Hospital. Clinical Wellness and Outreach Coordinator Reagan Ingram hosted the program for K-3 students in Ms. Jenna Pluta’s health and wellness class.
Students brought their favorite stuffed animals or teddy bears to participate in hands-on activities focused on bicycle and passenger safety. They learned about proper seatbelt use, when to transition out of a booster seat and why sitting in the back seat is safest. Students also took part in an egg-drop demonstration to see how helmets help protect against injury, before putting their skills into practice by caring for their “injured” stuffed animals.
