Congratulations to the Bridgehampton Class of 2026!

The Bridgehampton School’s Class of 2026 gathered one final time as classmates for their commencement ceremony on June 27. As Pomp and Circumstance filled the air, the graduates processed onto the school's back lawn while loved ones cheered from the audience.
Principal Michael Cox opened the ceremony by encouraging graduates to remain grounded in the foundation that has shaped them, their relationships, ambitions and community, and to carry the spirit of Bridgehampton with them wherever life leads. He reminded students that uncertainty is a natural part of moving forward. Graduation isn't about having everything figured out, Cox said. It's about standing at the edge of uncertainty with enough courage to take the next step anyway.
Superintendent Dr. Brigid P. Collins followed by reminding the Class of 2026 that true success extends beyond individual accomplishments. Never underestimate the positive difference that you can make in the lives of others, Collins said. Success is not measured only by personal achievement, but also how we contribute to our communities, how we support those around us, how we leave the world and our school better than we have found it.
Keynote speaker and Bridgehampton alumnus Carleton Giles reflected on the unique experience of growing up in a close-knit school community, reminding graduates that the relationships they built are among their greatest strengths. “You understand something that many people spend their lives searching for, Giles said. You understand the importance of belonging. You understand the value of community. You understand that people really matter.
Giles also encouraged graduates to remember two simple words: wake up. He challenged them to wake up to possibility, opportunity, gratitude and the understanding that their future is not something that merely happens to them, but something they create.
Salutatorian Luis Penafiel then addressed his classmates, reflecting on the lasting connections they formed throughout their time together. School is a place where I got to not only learn, but also a place where I get to see my friends every day, a place where I feel part of something bigger because school isn't just another place; It's my home and it's our home. And you guys aren't just my classmates, you're my family, Penafiel said.
Valedictorian Sascha Gomberg delivered moving remarks by recognizing each of her 14 classmates individually, highlighting the unique bond she shared with each of them and the impact they had on her life. Though I do not know what lies ahead for all of us, I know with all the certainty in my heart that we will work hard to make the world a better place on each of our separate paths, Gomberg said.
Director of Guidance Danielle Doscher then recognized students receiving scholarships and special awards, totaling more than $100,000.
The ceremony concluded with the moment the graduates had been working toward for years. After Superintendent Dr. Collins certified the Class of 2026, each student received their diploma and was officially declared a graduate of the Bridgehampton School District. The milestone was met with applause, hugs and cheers from classmates, faculty, family and friends.
