6th Grade Author Conference

he sixth graders at Bridgehampton had an amazing experience participating in a novel study of “Eleven,” by Tom Rogers. “Eleven” is a poignant novel that intertwines the innocence of childhood with the gravity of a national tragedy on September 11, 2001.
As our students read the book, they created shirts that highlighted what they believed were the most important parts of the story and included quotes from the novel that had a strong impact on them. The project culminated in a special visit from the author himself, who led the class through a slideshow about his work and what it’s like to be an author. After a Q-and-A session, the students proudly shared their shirts with him and explained why they chose particular scenes and quotes. It was a truly fantastic and memorable experience for everyone involved.
